WEHRLE, Kenneth J., 81, Oakland, at Togus, July 16, 2014. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m., Sunday, July 27, at Sebec Corner Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

Oakland –   Kenneth J. Wehrle, 81, died July 16, 2014, at the Veterans Hospice in Togus. He had fought a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Kenn was born September 19, 1932, in Irvington, NJ, to Charles Edward and Minnie Doris (Fisher) of Newark, NJ.
    Kenn was a veteran of the Korean War and served eight years from 1951 to 1959, assigned to the SeeBee’s. He graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School, two New Jersey technical schools, and he attended the University of Maine.  In 1956 Kenn married Charlene Ladd Watson of Rahway, NJ, and they just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
    Upon moving to Maine in 1965, he went to work for the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad in Derby, and retired in 1995. It has been said that no man enjoyed his job more than Kenny. Trains fascinated him.
    Kenn played most sports and was recently inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame. He proved that “It is not the Age, It’s the Attitude.”
    He leaves a son, Dale R. Wehrle of California; a daughter and her husband, Dawn-Marie and Barry Awalt of Lincoln, and a granddaughter, Jordan-Lee Van Dyne of Biddeford; a sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Betty Lou Munson of Kernersville, NC; and so many nieces, nephews and dear friends who meant the world to him.
    A special thanks to Maine General Hospice, Lori Martin and Melissa Meader who managed to win his heart and leave him with a smile!
    A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Sebec Corner Cemetery, Sebec, with Chaplain Julianne M. Bousquet officiating. After the service a casual friendship luncheon will be held at the Harold Alfond Boys & Girls Center, 126 North Street, Waterville. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.  Condolences may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
