Selectmen to meet new Moosehead Chamber director

Staff Report

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Board of Selectmen meet Wednesday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. and will be formally introduced to the new Moosehead Lake Chamber of Commerce interim Executive Director Angela Arno. She succeeds Suzanne Buchanan of Willimantic, who stepped down last month.

Arno, who is also an amateur photographer, has several ties to the Moosehead Lake Region. Her family has a camp on First Roach Pond; and her grandfather, Herb Snow, was the owner of the Kokadjo Sporting Camps from 1946-66. There will be a reception Tuesday, July 22 at 4:30 p.m. on the steamship Katahdin to welcome Angela Arno.
The rest of Wednesday’s meeting agenda is rather light. The board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on a proposal to change the name of North Shore Road to Sanders Point.
Town Manager John Simko said that the name change was proposed “in order to reduce confusion by emergency service providers as they respond to this area. There are currently four different North Shore roads throughout the Moosehead Lake Region.”
The board will also discuss some proposed changes at the transfer station including a procedure for receiving household glass starting Aug. 1.
The board will also vote for a slate of officers for the Maine Municipal Association Executive Committee and Legislative Policy Committee.
