On April 28 Greg Tang, writer and author, came to visit Ridge View Community School (RVCS). He signed books with the kids and gave a talk to them about reading and math.

THE WRITE STUFF — Ridge View Community School student Taylor Prentis participates in a book signing with author Greg Tang during a recent school visit.

Tang grew up in Ithaca, N.Y., and at the age of 40 he started to write books about math for younger kids. Seeing kids struggle at math is hard for a lot of people but Tang was one of the people who did something about it. He wrote many books about math to help kids stop counting on their fingers, which he says is the hardest way to do math. Some of his books consist of “Math Fables”, “Math Fables Too”, “The Grapes of Math”, “Math For All Seasons”, “Math Appeal” and “Math Potatoes”.
Tang also said he is best at writing math books and poems. “I’m not a good writer I’m a good re-writer” is what he told RVCS.
