    DOVER-FOXCROFT – Virginia E. McCarthy, 85, wife of the late John R. McCarthy, passed away peacefully April 19, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born June 6, 1928, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Herbert S. and Leila M. (Simonds) Jackson.
    Virginia graduated from Foxcroft Academy and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft.
    She is survived by three children, Patricia Johnson and her husband, Alan, of Dover-Foxcroft, Kathleen Polk of Nashville, TN, and Daniel McCarthy and his wife, Illana, of Hermon; eight grandchildren, John, Melody, Chris, Miranda, Jason, Tara, Jenna, and Ryan; and eight great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by a special niece, Brenda MacDonald of Brewer.
    She will be laid to rest in the family lot in Gray Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
