FAIRBROTHER, Hoyt Marcus, 69, Dover-Foxcroft, April 13, 2014. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. Burial will be in the family lot in the Dover Cemetery, later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
Hoyt Marcus Fairbrother
DOVER-FOXCROFT – Hoyt Marcus Fairbrother, 69, husband of Cheryl (Folsom) Fairbrother, passed away April 13, 2014, at a local hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born June 15, 1944, in Bangor, the son of Everett Marcus and Phyllis (Hoyt) Fairbrother.
He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1962 and from Husson College in 1967. Hoyt married Cheryl Folsom in 1964.
Hoyt had been employed as a bank manager for Bangor Savings Bank and for Skowhegan Saving Bank. He was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, where he served as treasurer for a number of years and as a deacon. He was a member of the Greenville, Dexter, and Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Clubs for 38 years, serving as president from 2006-2007 in Dover-Foxcroft. He was a selectman for Dover-Foxcroft for 16 years, and a member and past president of the Tim’s Cove Property Owners Association. Hoyt enjoyed building Shaker style furniture and was a part owner in Apples ‘n Spice gift shop during his retirement.
He was at his happiest when spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Dover-Foxcroft; a daughter, Bonnie Gallupe and her husband, Stephen of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, E. Marcus Fairbrother and his wife, Molly Donovan, of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Eloise D., Roosevelt D., and Finnegan D. Fair-brother, all of Yarmouth; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Elaine Folsom of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Jo Fairbrother.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff at Hibbard Skilled Nursing Center for the wonderful care he received while there.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, with Rev. Chad Poland officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Dover Cemetery, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hibbard Skilled Nursing Center, Special Care Unit, 1037 W.
