District 3 President Libby Wiers, of St. Albans, welcomed members. She then introduced GFWC Maine President Cress who praised the art and the creators of such wonderful works. Cress thanked Weirs for organizing the meeting. There is so much talent in our young high school students, it was a difficult decision for the judges.

Weirs then asked club presidents to tell what their clubs have done this year — many different activities with one common goal. She then asked members to stand and tell how many years they had been in Federation. Years related from  three to 52 years.
Following a lovely luncheon, judges Suzanne Roberts, Pam Dunphy and Ulrike Guthrie, members of the Bangor Art  Society, explained what they look for in art. They too were impressed with the quality of the students’ works. There were several portraits this year.
Winners were as follows: first place Yunji Kim, Foxcroft Academy; second Joanna Howell, Newport; third Olivia Correa, Dexter. Honorable mention No. 1 Evelyn Henderson, Foxcroft; and second honorable mention Sangunin Lee, Foxcroft. First through third place and first honorable mention art will go to the state convention for judging in May. Those winners will go on to the Federation.
Those attending were asked to bring diapers for the GFWC Maine President’s Project Newborns In Need. Diapers and other baby items were donated. GFWC Maine President and Newborns In Need Chairman McCormick thanked the members for their contributions. Maine club women have been very generous to this project.
