Rep. Davis meets with Maine’s conservation districts

    AUGUSTA — Soil and water conservation districts from Maine recently participated in a Conservation District Day at the Statehouse Hall of Flags. Rep. Paul Davis (R-Sangerville) and several other state legislators and senators, stopped into the Hall of Flags to visit with district staff and discuss pertinent issues and concerns.

    Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) Executive Director, Joanna Tarrazi, spoke with Davis about sustainable agriculture and forestry initiatives in Piscataquis County, including at the PCSWCD’s Demonstration Forest and Law Farm. As the PCSWCD and Davis serve many of the same constituents, they discussed the importance of partnerships, and also approaches to implementing conservation technical assistance with landowners, businesses, schools and municipalities.
    Rep. Paul Davis is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives, and provides his expertise to the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee and the Government Oversight Committee. Davis will be seeking re-election to the Maine State Senate later this year. Davis served four terms as a state senator, including one term as assistant leader of the Senate Republicans and two terms as the leader. A member of the board of directors of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, he is an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler.
