Nuite resigns as SAD 4 board chair

Staff Report

SANGERVILLE — George Nuite of Sangerville, a longtime member and chairman of the School Administrative District 4 Board of Directors, has resigned.
Nuite’s letter to the Sangerville Board of Selectmen said, in part, “I am unable to complete my term as an SAD 4 director representing Sangerville. I have enjoyed serving for many years. This does not come easy for me … I need to take care of business at home”.

Sangerville Town Manager Dave Pearson said that Nuite’s term expires in 2015. While the selectmen can legally appoint someone to take Nuite’s place until the next municipal election, Pearson said that it would make more sense to wait until March. “We don’t want to appoint someone to serve for six weeks, not knowing the outcome would be after the March town meeting election,” Pearson said.
Sangerville voters will now elect two new SAD 4 board members in March, since Rebecca Holt resigned in November 2013.
Nuite, who operates a farm on Silvers Mills Road in Sangerville, couldn’t be reached for comment.
