    PCHS teams split with Narraguagus

GUILFORD — The Piscataquis Community High School Pirate teams had to settle for a split with the visiting Narraguagus Knight on Saturday.

    The PCHS boys (4-0) outscored the Knights 14-8 in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and clinch a 55-42 victory.
    The Pirates held a 12-10 edge after the first quarter, but fell behind by four points at halftime before surging ahead 41-34 at the three-quarter mark.
    PCHS scoring leaders were Nate Burns with 21 points, Tristan French with 15 and Ben Morrill with 11.
    Spencer Thompson scored 15 points and Devin Schoppee added 10 to pace the Knights (2-3).
    The Narraguagus girls (3-1) took an early lead and never looked back as they defeated PCHS, 42-36.
    PCHS (5-2) fell behind 25-15 at the half but closed the gap to two points toward the end of the contest. The Lady Knights clinched the victory with a pair of free throws by Anna Ramsay in the closing minutes. Ramsay led her team with 14 points while Carol Ann Young added 11 points for the winners.
    Scoring leaders for PCHS were Jordynne Littlefield with 12 points and Delani Bennett and Mikayla Dow with 8 points each.
    The PCHS boys travel to Bangor Christian for their next contest on Friday, Jan. 3 while the girls were at Foxcroft Academy on Monday night. They travel to Bangor Christian on Jan. 4.Observer photo/Mike LangeSP-TwoFor-DC-PO-1
