Patricia Love (Wappler) Whittemore

WHITTEMORE, Patricia Love (Wappler), 79, Venice, FL, December 20, 2013. Her wishes were to be cremated in Venice, FL, and a memorial service will be held in Maine this Summer.

VENICE, FL – Patricia Love (Wappler) Whittemore passed peacefully at her home in Venice, FL, on December 20, 2013. She was born February 16, 1934, in Bangor, ME, and was adopted at an early age by Eric & Leona (Atkinson) Love of Dover Foxcroft, ME, where “Patsy” grew up and later graduated from Foxcroft Academy.
    She then attended Pine Manor Junior College in Massachusetts before returning home, where she married Frederick C. Wappler Jr. in 1956. Together they moved to New York City where Frederick III & Reinhold (Ron) Wappler were born and spent their early years.
    Patricia was predeceased by her first husband in 1975. She later met and then married M. Bruce Whittemore of Connecticut in 1979, and lovingly embraced six more children through that union. They lived in CT, until retiring to Punta Gorda, FL, where they enjoyed a very active thirteen years of boating and golfing before relocating to their present home in Venice, FL. Patricia was a member of the Venice Golf & Country Club, enjoyed reading, music, dance, the arts, and taking cruises with her husband. She was a volunteer for “Meals on Wheels” for a decade and then gave of her time to provide respite care with the local hospice center up until the time of her death.
    Patricia loved life, but even more so, she loved her family. She showered her love and joy on all, and was an unstoppable force; always on the go, always doing for others. She is now, finally, at rest.
    In addition to her devoted husband of 34 years, M. Bruce Whitte-more, Patricia leaves behind eight children, Fred C Wappler III & partner, Lori of Dover Foxcroft & Nokomis, FL; Reinhold (Ron) Wappler & wife, Andrea, of South Freeport, ME, Judy Millinowski & husband, Roger, of Boothbay Harbor, ME, Gail O’Grady & husband, Thomas, of Norwalk, CT, Carol Yagley & husband, Gene, of North Port, FL, Diane Sheridan & husband, Brian, of Stratford, CT, Adria Moran & husband, Jim, of Greer, SC, and Bruce Whittemore, of Clinton , NJ; 21 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; three nieces, and five nephews.
    In addition to her first husband, Patricia was predeceased by her brother, Eric Love, Jr. of Dover Foxcroft.
    She will forever be missed by all of her family, as well as special friends, Bob  Betsy Arndt, Rita Mathis, and Carolyn Landy.
    Patricia’s wishes were to be cremated in Venice, and a memorial service will be held in Maine this summer, where her ashes will be strewn on Sebec Lake, a place she dearly loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s name to Tidewell Hospice at 220 Wexford Blvd. in Venice, FL 34293.
