BOWERBANK – Bernard J. Warren passed away December 23, 2013, at his home in Bowerbank, at the age of 90.  Most remembered for his quick wit and infectious laugh, “Barn”, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, loved his country and had visited all 50 states. He retired in 1981 from GTE Sylvania, where he had helped develop their high pressure sodium (orange) street light, the wedge base automotive tail light, and the halogen headlight, of which he held several patents. As a member of the United States Power Squadron and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary he attained the highest grade of marine navigator, and taught classes in basic boating, piloting, and engine maintenance.  After retirement, he and his wife, Mary, built a year round residence on Sebec Lake where he enjoyed woodworking and tinkering. It has been said that he could fix anything but a broken heart. “Barn” led a full life and didn’t regret a moment of it.
    He leaves two sons, four daughters, two grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and a great- granddaughter.
    A memorial service was conducted 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Mark Stevens of the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church officiating. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome .com.
