THE BOSS IS IN — Rowell’s Garage in Dover-Foxcroft is Piscataquis County’s only Boss plow dealer. They stock light truck models but can obtain anything from the Boss catalogue.
“We’ve sold more Boss snowplows so far this year that we did all last year,” said Scott Moulton, general manager of Rowell’s Garage in Dover-Foxcroft. “People are buying them for three main reasons: quality, performance and price.”
As Piscataquis County’s only Boss dealer, Rowell’s stocks the light-duty truck plows, but is able to get anything from the Boss catalogue the customer wants. “We install them and keep them running,” Moulton added. “We also do warrantee work for Boss owners, even if they didn’t buy the plow from us.”
With the introduction of the Power-V over 25 years ago, the Boss has been revolutionizing the V-plow category to provide today’s plow professionals a family of V-plows that are as tough and reliable as they come — from the proven performance of the Power-V to the innovative, dual-trip design of the new DXT.
When it comes to outworking the weather and putting snow in its place, they know what stands in your way when it’s time to battle the cold, which is why the Boss is always there to back you up.
At the Boss, everything they design and build is with the professional in mind.
For the first time, Boss offers a solution that combines both a trip cutting edge and a full moldboard trip system, in one tough, flared-wing, “V” package. This combination offers increased impact protection from obstructions like manhole covers all the way up to frozen snow banks. The DXT is innovated for the inevitable; because at the Boss, they’re always finding new ways to back you up.
Here’s a quick look at some of the Boss line of products either in stock or available at Rowell’s Garage
The Power-V XT
Built to perform and boasting flared blade wings with an enhanced curl, the Boss Power-V XT throws snow with maximum efficiency to keep you plowing at the top of your game. All Power-V XTs feature tough cutting edges made of Hardox® for long-lasting wear resistance and standard SmartLock Cylinders to maximize backdragging performance. The long-lasting Steel and Poly Power-V XT also feature a baked-on powder-coat paint finish with exclusive zinc primer to resist corrosion and outlast the elements.
The Power-V
Nothing stands in the way of the Boss. So there’s a reason our Power-V is the best-selling multi-position plow on the market. The tough yet versatile Steel Power-V features a half-inch thick, patented high-performance cutting edge made of Hardox® that delivers extended wear resistance compared to conventional cutting edges. In addition, our baked-on powder-coat paint finish comes with an exclusive zinc primer to resist corrosion and protect your plow.
The Boss straight-blade plows
The Boss standard-duty and super-duty straight-blade plows are the classic workhorses. The long-lasting steel straight-blade features a baked-on powder-coat paint finish with zinc primer to resist corrosion, while the super-slick polyethylene moldboard of the poly straight-blade makes sure snow slides right off the blade. The heavy-duty push frame and quadrant, optimized blade curl and the reinforced moldboard lead all others in reliability and strength.
The Boss SportDuty plows
When facing the obstacles, the Boss knows what you need. The 7-foot Boss SportDuty plow is built especially for downsized 4×4’s and SUVs, while the 7-1/2 foot Sport-Duty is perfect for full-size half-ton trucks and SUVs. Both offer a super-slick polyethylene moldboard, which saves fuel as well as wear and tear on your truck by making sure snow slides right off the blade.
Trip-Edge skid steer plows
When the pros are on the job, the versatile Boss Trip-Edge skid steer plow takes the surprises out of blade-jarring obstacles like ice, curbs and manhole covers. Its built-in side-to-side float is designed specifically to follow the contours of whatever you’re plowing and the reinforced moldboard, cast-iron plow shoes and heavy-duty push frame give you that legendary Boss muscle for even the toughest jobs.
Heavy-duty straight blade
When winter’s wrath is approaching, sometimes smaller-size plows just don’t cut it. Designed for medium-duty trucks, the Boss heavy-duty straight-blade features a reinforced moldboard with enhanced blade curl to power through deep, wet snow, while the versatility of the Boss Heavy-Duty Power-V and DXT allows you to scoop, stack and punch through hard-packed banks.
BX-12 box plows
The Boss BX-12 2 is designed to maximize efficiency and minimize wear and tear. It features a segmented trip-edge which allows the part of the cutting edge that comes into contact with an obstruction to trip independently of the rest of the cutting edge. This keeps the rest of the edge in contact with the pavement and snow, while greatly reducing impact forces on the loader, plow and driver.
B-8 and B-10 skid steer
box plows
Innovative features and toughness are trademarks of the Boss and the B-8 and B-10 skid steer box plows are no exception. Each plow is designed to attach to any recommended skid steer vehicle thanks to a universal coupler system. The B-8 and B-10 feature attachment plates with built-in float and pivot features which keep the blade firmly on the ground and at an optimal angle while negotiating rough terrain. And because box plows face some of the toughest jobs, an exclusive bolt-on wing design ensures that if a wing is bent, a new one can be quickly and easily bolted-on.
The Boss ATV plow
Designed for the contractor, but appreciated by the homeowner, the Boss ATV tackles small spaces like sidewalks and trails and is built with the features and capabilities you would expect from a Boss. The winches and pulleys found on other plows just can’t compete with the speed and efficiency of Boss’ fully hydraulic ATV plow.
Spread at the speed of the storm
Boss introduces the newest member of the family: the VBX spreader. Snow and ice removal professionals around the globe will appreciate everything the VBX offers. Like the completely sealed, 1/2 horsepower stainless steel motor, a corrosion resistant hopper and intuitive LCD control system for ease of use. The VBX is tough and reliable enough to tackle any job and is a V-Box spreader that is truly worthy of the Boss name.
TGS tailgate spreaders
Ready for anything, the Boss TGS 800 tailgate spreader is engineered to spread sand and rock salt as well as other deicing materials while boasting even more features to help make your job as smooth and steady as possible. Not to be outdone, the Boss line of spreaders also offers the TGS 600 and TGS 1100. Both efficiently spread salt, and feature an attachment system that is fast and easy to use and offers the reliability you’ve come to expect from the Boss.
