Half dozen area grads play field hockey at Husson

    BANGOR — A strong local presence was on the 2013 Husson University field hockey team, as a half dozen team members were graduates of either Dexter Regional High School or Foxcroft Academy.

sp-hussonmarno-dcX-po-48    Mariah Arno, a Dover-Foxcroft resident and the daughter of Peter and Tracy Arno, was one of two captains for Husson. The senior forward played in all 18 games for the Eagles, picking up two goals and five assists.
    Arno finished her career at Husson with 33 goals, including 20 during her sophomore campaign, and 15 assists in 66 games from 2010-13. Arno is an occupational therapy major.

sp-hussongustin-dcX-po-48    Maicee Gustin, of Dexter and the daughter of Dawn Cookson and Timothy Gustin Sr., played in goal for the Eagles. During her sophomore season Gustin appeared in 15 games with 12 starts.
    She totaled over 827 minutes, allowing 32 goals for a 2.71 GAA and stopping 130 shots for a save percentage of .802. Gustin recorded two shutouts in 2013. She is a psychology major.

Sophomore Hilary Kendall, of Dover-Foxcroft and the daughter of Rosanne Millett and Keith Kendall, played midfield for Husson. Kendall saw action in 16 games. She is a majoring in nursing.

sp-hussonlarno-dcX-po-48    Forward Lindsey Arno, of Dover-Foxcroft and the sister of Mariah Arno, played in 16 games during her first season at Husson. Arno picked up a pair of assists. She is an occupational therapy major.

 

sp-hussonwarno-dcX-po-48    Fellow 2013 Foxcroft Academy graduate Whitney Arno, of Dover-Foxcroft and the daughter of Scott Arno and Dawnelle Arno, also was a freshman on the Eagle field hockey squad. Arno — a cousin of Mariah and Lindsey Arno — played in 14 games on defense. She is a nursing major.

   

sp-hussoneastman-dcX-po-48Freshman forward Sarah Eastman, of Dexter and the daughter of Scott and Sue Eastman, scored two goals in 18 games for Husson. Eastman is majoring in nursing.
    Husson finished 2013 with an overall record of 10-8, going 6-3 in North Atlantic Conference play. The third-seeded Eagles reached the conference semifinals, falling at No. 2 St. Joseph’s College of Standish 2-1.
