Harmony man charged with cutting off woman’s clothes with switchblade

SANGERVILLE — A 20-year-old Harmony man is being held at Piscataquis County Jail on charges that he cut his girlfriend’s clothes off with a switchblade knife.
According to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department, Tyler Stewart allegedly went to his girlfriend’s house on Sept. 14 and told her to change her clothes because he didn’t like the one she was wearing, according to Chief Deputy Robert Young.

After the woman declined to change her clothes, Young said that Stewart starting cutting her clothing off with a switchblade and cut her leg in the process. Another man was in the room when the incident occurred as well as the victim’s 10 year-old daughter, according to the police report.
While no one filed a complaint on the evening of the incident, Young said that deputies received information about it while working on an unrelated investigation, interviewed the victim and she confirmed what happened.
Stewart was arrested on Sept. 14 in Wellington and charged with aggravated domestic violence assault, a Class B felony, and is being held on $25,000 bail. Young said that while the sheriff’s department is familiar with Stewart, “We’ve not dealt with him on anything of this magnitude.”
