CUB SCOUT PACK’S FAMILY FUN DAY

Sangerville’s Pack 61 Cub Scouts and their family members recently enjoyed the annual Family Fun Day at Peaks Kenny State Park in Dover-Foxcroft. The day started with a morning hike of The Birch Mountain Ledge Trail.

Many of the Scouts earned their hiking belt loop and, after learning about safe whittling, the older Scouts received their Whittling Chip. This was all followed by a delicious cookout. The weather was spectacular and was a great opportunity for Scout families and friends to spend some time together. Even more fun was had by the families that opted to spend the weekend camping at Peaks Kenny. There was bike riding, an early morning polar bear dip, songs and stories by the campfire, s’mores, lots of laughs and smiles, a delicious blueberry pancake breakfast (the Scouts picked the blueberries) and the company of wonderful people. One Scout’s statement sums up the whole thing, “This was the best weekend ever!”
