Prizes and surprises at Depot open house
GREENVILLE — The Greenville Junction Depot Friends have announced their house party at the Greenville Junction Depot on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.
Those who like trains, good food, excellent arts and crafts, train lore, rousing music and fun in general should plan to attend. Highlighting this year’s festivities will be a concert by the Dexter Community Band, luncheon by Grill Master General, scrumptious desserts, and prizes galore including a raffle of a week in a Costa Rican vacation home with $250 spending money.
There will be guided tours of the depot and retired railroad workers will once again share their fascinating stories with visitors and each other.
Plans are in the works for a velocipede ride on the rails, special photo opportunities, and special surprise guest.
Area artists will be displaying their works for sale and some may demonstrate their craft on-site during the celebration.
Display space under the group’s tent will be limited, but ground space can be made available for artists who have their own tent for cover.
