Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training starts Sept. 10

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Applications are open for Master Gardener Volunteer Training beginning Sept. 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Piscataquis County office at 165 East Main Street.

    The 14-week program will focus on the art and science of growing garden vegetables and fruits, including soil and plant nutrition, botany, plant health and garden management. Program graduates then have the opportunity to give back to their communities by volunteering their time and skills.
    Program fees are on a sliding scale, based on annual household income. A limited number of scholarships are available. All financial information is confidential. Applications are due Sept. 6.
