P.E.T.S. and ShoeBox Recycling collaborate

DOVER-FOXCROFT — P.ET.S., in partnership with ShoeBox Recycling, is thrilled to become a part of a meaningful program that encourages the community to recycle shoes while raising funds to support low cost spay and neuter programs.

P.E.T.S. (prevent euthanasia through sterilization) was organized to promote and assist in the spaying of female and neutering of male animals, to encourage and teach the proper treatment of all animals and to assist in the prevention of cruelty to them.
The collaboration will take all types of wearable (no holes in the soles or shoes that need mending) pairs of men’s, women’s and kid shoes.
This means shoes in all shapes, sizes and colors, including athletic shoes, cleats, Timberland-type work boots, dress shoes, casual shoes, sandals, heels, flats and cowboy boots. Please just make sure that they are gently used and re-wearable.
ShoeBox Recycling is proud to send all of the shoes collected to those in need of affordable footwear. With over 300 million pairs of shoes hitting landfills each year, ShoeBox Recycling is looking to change the way people think about their shoes and the need for reuse around the globe.
In Dover-Foxcroft a collection box is located in the Center Theatre. Shoes may be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For pick up or drop off in Newport area call 278-2034 to arrange a time.
Shoebox Recycling is on Facebook and also “like” the P.E.T.S. Facebook page at P.E.T.S. Piscataquis County Maine.
