Stroud named a Husson football captain

BANGOR — Ryan Stroud of Dover-Foxcroft, a 2010 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, will be one of four captains for the 2013 football season at Husson University. Stroud, a quarterback, will suit up for the Eagles after transferring from the University of Maine.

Joining Stroud as Husson captains are former Bangor High School star Josiah Hartley, a tight end who debuted for Husson in 2012 after also beginning his collegiate football career at UMaine, running back Byron Jackson and defensive lineman Ernest Wiggins. Jackson and Wiggins are both residents of Bridgeport, Conn.
“The selection of these four men by their peers is a great testament to their depth as people, their leadership abilities and qualities as team players,” said Husson Head Coach Gabby Price. “All seasons have ups and downs and Josiah, Ernest, Byron, Ryan and their teammates will all be needed in leadership roles.”
The Eagles will open up the season on the road when they will travel to Hartwick College in upstate New York on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
Two weekends later Husson will host Alfred (N.Y.) State College for the 2013 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 21 at noon.
