American Flag Color    CITRUS SPRINGS, FL – Cedric A. Hewes, 99, died on July 14, 2013, at his residence. He wrote this obituary for his friends and family:
I was born in Biddeford, ME, October 18, 1913, and relocated to Hallowell, ME, four years later. After graduating from Hallowell High School in 1932 where I was active in sports and music, I went on to graduate from Farmington Normal School in 1940 and earned  my Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Maine, Orono.
Ardis Farnham of Shirley Mills, ME, became my wife in 1941 while I was teaching principal and coach of Derby Grammar School from 1941-43. The next 2 1/2 years were spent serving my country in the U.S. Army in Europe beginning from “D Day” until 1945 when I joined the Dover-Foxcroft School System as teacher, principal and District Supervisor until my retirement in June of 1972. My wife Ardis and I, with our daughter, Janna moved to Florida in December of 1972. Ardis passed on in April 1990.
From 1992 until her demise in 2005, Marguerite “Peg” Phillips was my loving friend and companion. I leave my daughter, Janna and several cousins, nephews and nieces in Maine and South Carolina and numerous golfing buddies at Rainbow’s End and a loving group of ladies that cared for me in my last months.
Memorial Services were held on Friday, July 19, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Community Congregational Christian Church in Citrus Springs, FL, with Rev. Jeffrey Timm officiating. Internment followed services at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens. Expressions of Sympathy can be made online at www.robertsofdunnellon.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon, FL.

God bless you all,
Cedric “Ric” A. Hewes
