Bragdon hired as editorial page editor for Sentinel and KJ

BU-BragdonBrief-dcx-PO-30  AUGUSTA — A former Piscataquis Observer reporter has been appointed editorial page editor for two of Maine Today Media’s (MTM) daily newspapers.
Ben Bragdon, who has been managing editor of Current Publishing in Westbrook since 2009, will begin his new duties next month at the Morning Sentinel in Waterville and Kennebec Journal in Augusta.

Bragdon, 36, worked for the Observer from 2002-2005 and served as editor of the Moosehead Messenger in Greenville from 2005-2007. He joined Current Publishing as reporter for two weeklies covering the York County and Lakes Region areas, and was promoted to managing editor of all six weeklies in 2009.
“I am excited to be a part of two newspapers with such long, rich histories, and I look forward to being a part of a constructive debate over the issues facing the region,” Bragdon said in a press release from MTM.
Bragdon’s duties include writing editorials for both papers, overseeing the op-ed pages and its contributors and helping enhance the online presence of opinion content, according to Scott Monroe, managing editor of the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel.
“We’re thrilled to have Ben join our team,” Monroe said. “Ben has a strong background in community journalism and an understanding of the people and issues important here in central Maine.”
