THE PUBLIC’S FAVORITE — This 1956 Ford Customline Victoria owned by Ron and Victoria Lane of Newport was the People’s Choice Trophy winner during the annual Piscataquis Cruise-In June 23 in Dover-Foxcroft.
For the first time a female car enthusiast, Kathy Richards of Dexter, won the Bumper Ball Contest by backing up to a ball on a stand without the ball toppling over.
The Rap Contest was won by John Boutot of Lincoln whose pipes hit 117 on the decibel meter.
A plaque was given for the person with the saddest Hard Luck Story. Bob Harper of Abbot found a rear flat tire and a vapor lock that did not want to start when he got ready to leave for the Cruise-In. He prevailed and arrived safe and sound.
Frank Barron of Augusta won the plaque for the Farthest Miles Traveled. He is part of the National Street Rod Association who come every year to the Cruise-In to perform a 23-point safety inspection for free for any car owner who requests one.
Plans are being made for the fourth annual Piscataquis Cruise-In in 2014.
