    TABLE MANNERS NOT REQUIRED — Competitors in the children’s whoopie pie eating contest see who can eat four of the miniature chocolate and cream desserts the fastest during the annual Maine Whoopie Pie Festival on June 22 in downtown Dover-Foxcroft.

Eating contests were also held for teenagers and adults, who needed to scarf down seven and 10 of the tasty treats. All of those stuffing their faces with whoopie pies could sip some milk to aid in the eating process, and winners received — in addition to bragging rights — tokens good for samples from the dozens of vendors at the festival carrying every imaginable type of whoopie pie.
