‘Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein’ at Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre and the Slightly Off-Center Players announce their production of “Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein.”
“Some Enchanted Evening is our first summer show in quite some time, and we are very excited about it,” says Executive Director Angela Bonacasa. “It’s a lot of fun working with actors singing such well-known, iconic music. Regardless of how much theatre you have seen, you’ve undoubtedly heard many of these songs, either as a child, in movies, or on the radio. They are beautiful, timeless songs, and audiences will no doubt find themselves smiling and tapping their toes.”
Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II created a number of popular and successful musicals in the 1940s and 1950s, initiating what is considered the “golden age” of musical theatre. “Some Enchanted Evening” includes songs from many musicals from the Rodgers and Hammerstein canon, including “Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” “Cinderella,” “Oklahoma,” “Carousel” and more.
“Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein” runs June 28, June 29 and July 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., as well as June 30 and July 6 at 2 p.m.
