• L.D. 171: “An Act to Facilitate the Licensing of International Mail Order Prescription Pharmacies by the Maine Board of Pharmacy”
    This bill permits the board to enter into reciprocal inspection agreements with any state or country in which a mail order prescription facility selling drugs to Maine citizens is located. The prescriptions must be filled by English-speaking pharmacies that are licensed to dispense drugs to residents of their own countries.

• L.D. 346: “An Act to Require the Collection of Sales Tax by any Business Making Sales to Persons in Maine”
    This is the so-called “Internet Tax Bill” that eliminates the requirement that a business have a physical presence in the state in order to collect sales tax on purchases.

• L.D. 1066: “An Act to Increase Access to Health Coverage and Qualify Maine for Federal Funding”
    This bill expands coverage under the MaineCare program to adults who qualify under federal law with incomes up to 133 percent of the nonfarm income official poverty line, with the 5 percent federal income adjustment for family size, and qualifies Maine to receive federal funding for 100 percent of the cost of coverage for members who enroll under the expansion.
    Originally passed in both chambers but vetoed by Gov. Paul LePage. Bill brought up for reconsideration, but failed to gain two-thirds majority needed to override veto.
    Final vote: Passed by the Senate, 23-12; passed by the House, 95-52.

    This bill would have established an excise tax on marijuana, allowing the personal use and cultivation of marijuana and allowing, regulating and licensing certain commercial marijuana-related activities, while providing provisions to protect minors, employers and schools.
    A “yes” vote means that lawmakers agreed with the committee recommendation that the bill be rejected.

• L.D. 1309: “An Act to Strengthen the Maine Clean Election Act”
    This bill doubles the current seed money cap for participating Senate and House candidates and removes the seed money requirement for gubernatorial candidates. It also replaces the matching funds requirement with a system of optional supplemental funding for participating Maine Clean Election Act candidates who collect additional qualifying contributions.
