DOVER-FOXCRFOT – Salome M. Souza “Sallie LaVallie”, 78, passed away June 17, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born March 7, 1935, in Hartland, the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Packard) Thompson.
At an early age, Sally taught herself to play the guitar. From there she made a career of writing country music and poems. Several of her poems were published. Sally traveled from New Jersey to Island Falls to Canada performing. During her early days of performing, she was proud to say that she had met Willie Nelson and had performed in the same club as he and many other country music stars.
Sally is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Hexter and Beverly Michaud; a niece and godchild, Kristie Hexter; a great-nephew, Nicholas Michaud; and many more nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Vinson Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; and a sister, Barbara Bean.
