Janet Marie Beckwith

BECKWITH, Janet Marie, 83, of Shirley, at Athens, June 14, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville. Arrangements are in the care the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

PO Janet Beckwith OB    SHIRLEY – Janet Marie Beckwith, 83, wife of Bernard E. Beckwith, passed away June 14, 2013, at Tissues Country Estates in Athens. She was born February 28, 1930, in Rangeley, the daughter of Nestor and Hazel (Tibbetts) Carignan.
    Janet made her home in Shirley for 59 years and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting business. She enjoyed knitting, making many hats and pairs of mittens for school children and the Kiwanis Club. Janet also enjoyed sewing doll clothes and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She loved to dance, travel, summers at camp in Rangeley and Rockwood, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family who were all very important to her.
    In addition to her loving husband of 65 years, Bernard, Janet is survived by a son, Norman G. and his wife, Geneva (Ward); two daughters, Carol McBrierty and her husband, Bruce, and Jeannette Morrill and her husband, David; ten grandchildren, Misty, Bruce Jr., Tracy, Stephanie, Sherri, Marty, TJ, Jody, Brian and Ian; nine great-grandchildren, Autumn, Emma, Taylor, Cassidy, Adam, Josie, Anders, Reine Jo and Wylder; a sister; three brothers-in-law, Robert Dayon, Ken Beckwith, and Norman A. Beckwith and his wife, Mona; two special friends, Annette Ross and Marion Pelletier; and a special nephew, Jim Carignan.
    She was predeceased by two sons, Nestor “Terry” and Wayne Beckwith; two grandchildren, Dianna and Mark Beckwith; two brothers; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Dayon.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with Father Kevin Martin celebrant. Burial will be in the family lot in the Shirley Cemetery. After the burial, family and friends are invited to the Shirley Town Hall for refreshments and fellowship.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MaineGeneral Health Reach Home Care and Hospice, 10 Water St., Suite 307, Waterville, ME 04901, or to Tissues Activity Fund, 212 Fox Hill Rd., Athens, ME 04912.
