American Flag ColorSANGERVILLE-  Carl D. “Kite” Grant, 84, died June 17, 2013, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, after a brief illness. He was born in Parkman, August 4, 1928, the son of Earl and Iva (Bartlett) Grant.
    He graduated from Sangerville High School and worked for Hardwood Products Company in Guilford for over 37 years. He served in the US Army for two years, and was stationed in Germany for more than half that time. He was a 50-plus year member of the Stott-Flanders American Legion Post #165. Kite enjoyed many years of camping and in his later years, enjoyed his Friday night poker games.
    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Perry) Grant; his children, Timothy and his wife, Cathy of Casa Grande, AZ, Nancy of Guilford, and Gary and his wife, Sheila of Parkman; four grandchildren, TJ and friend, Amanda, Brianne and fiancé, Rusty, Jon and Becky; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Connor, Bryan, Collin, Matthew and Katie; one great-great-grandson, Reid; one brother, Francis Grant; and a brother-in-law, Roger Kurki, both of Sangerville; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
    He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
    Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Village Cemetery in Sangerville with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Mayo Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, 897 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
