PVC stars

    A number of athletes from the region were named to the 2013 Penobscot Valley Conference Small School All-Conference Outdoor Track Team. One athlete per event earned First Team recognition, while the Second Team featured two honorees per event.

    Foxcroft Academy sophomore Fern Morrison received Girls First Team honors in both the 200 and 400, as well as recognition on the Second Team in the 300 hurdles.
    Sophomore Mariah Pettit of Piscataquis Community High School was named to the PVC Second Team in both the 100 and 200. Dexter Regional High School junior Meredith Roderka was chosen for the Second Team in both the 800 and 1,600. The Second Team high jumpers both are from PCHS, senior Briana Worster and freshman Lucinda Wingert.
    Foxcroft junior Ryan Wang was named to the Boys First Team in both the 100 and as part of the 4×100 relay team. Joining Wang is senior Jacob LaBree, sophomore Justin Diamond and junior Corey Bjornson. Bjornson also earned First Team honors in the discus and shot put.
    Senior Donald Boyer of Foxcroft received three First Team selections, in the 110 and 300 hurdles as well as the long jump.
    Also named to the Boys First Team was Dexter’s Richard Ryckmen in the 1,600 racewalk.
    Both LaBree and Wang were selected for the Boys Second Team in the 100 and 200. Boyer and Conrad Tarr of Dexter were the two representatives for the Second Team high jump, and Foxcroft senior Cody Levensalor and sophomore Peter Boyer earned Second Team recognition in the shot put.
    Also chosen for the Second Team was senior Michael Poulin of Dexter in the javelin and the Foxcroft 4×800 relay — freshmen James Smith, sophomore Julian Zepeda and freshmen Paul Birtwistle and Cooper Nelson.
