Francis (Frank) Thornton
Pearl Harbor survivor, Francis (Frank) Thornton, son of Francis J. and Evelyn Morin Thornton and resident of Zephyrhills, Fla., died May 11, 2013, at the age of 92.
He is survived by his loving wife, Verna; son, Robert; grandson, Ben; granddaughter, Amanda; beloved daughter, Melody Drake and family; sister, Terry Silvernail; Rod and family; Gayle Thornton a much loved sister-in-law and family.
Previously deceased by daughter, Patricia Hartzell; sister, Dorothy Lynch; brothers, William Thornton and Richard (Dick) Thornton.
In his time in the Navy, his unit was awarded 15 battle stars and two presidential citations. For many years, he was plant manager of numerous tanneries manufacturing shoe leather from green salted steer and cow hides.
