Spear celebrates her 100th birthday

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Family and friends of Avis Spear gathered at Pleasant Meadows Estates in on Sunday, May 19 to celebrate Avis Spear’s 100 birthday. In addition to sharing cake and beverages, memories spanning a century were relived and passed on. Everyone in attendance had a wonderful time, especially Avis herself.

    HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY — Avis Spear celebrated her 100th birthday on May 19 at Pleasant Meadows Estates in Dover-Foxcroft.

    Born in Mapleton, Maine on May 19, 1913, Avis is a life-long Maine resident. Avis and her husband of 65 years lived in Milo, were they raised three sons. Husband Newbert passed away in April of 1998. Darrell Spear currently resides in Florida and regularly visits Avis. The two other sons, Byron and Dale, are both deceased.
    Avis was an busy housewife with three boys, and later worked at Daggett’s Drug Store in Milo. Known as a spry woman with a heartwarming smile, Avis continues to charm residents, staff and friends at Pleasant Meadows Estates just as she always has. “She is always such a pleasure,” says Tina Gerickont of Pleasant Meadow Estates. “Today, she looked absolutely beautiful. I know everybody here was so happy to celebrate with her.”
