GREENVILLE – Louis O. Hilton, longtime Greenville and Palm Beach, Fla., resident, passed away May 6, 2013, after a short hospital stay in Palm Beach, Fla. Lou was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Greenville, son of C. Max and Edith Oakes Hilton.
He was a graduate of the University of Maine school of forestry and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College. He loved the town of Greenville and Moosehead Lake, and spent his whole life supporting the area that he loved so much. His causes were many, but his special loves were the steamboat Katahdin; Moosehead Marine Museum; and Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital. He served on many Maine boards through-out his life, including The Maine Community Foundation, The Forest Society of Maine, The Nature Conservancy, Merrill Trust Co., Owls Head Transportation Museum, Moosehead Marine Museum and others. He was an avid car collector and enjoyed sports car rallies. He loved aviation and supported many airplane museums. He also greatly enjoyed boating and was very active with the Moosehead Lake Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, “B”; daughter, Christine Cramer and husband, Brad, and their four, children, C. Max, Ingrid, Adelaide and Harry; and daughter, Karen Fresne and children, Hunter and Isobel. He was predeceased by his two sons, Richard L. and Harry S. Hilton.
