Penquis Valley honor parts

    MILO — Matthew Hackett, principal of Penquis Valley High School, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2013.



   Rachel Worster, daughter of Todd and Beth Worster of Brownville, has been named Valedictorian. Worster will be attending the University of Maine-Orono in the explorations program as an undeclared major receiving a Presidential Scholarship. She participated  in Student Council as well as being a one-year member of the tennis team, two years in soccer and a four-year member of the basketball team.


    Peter Morse, son of George Morse and Tracy Morse, both of Milo, has been named the Salutatorian. He will be attending Eastern Maine Community College, majoring in liberal studies and possibly transferring to UMaine in the future. He enjoys hunting and fishing. Morse also enjoys following UMaine hockey. Morse has his amateur radio license and is a member of the Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club.


    Mindy Sue Downing, daughter of Rebecca Downing and the former Michael Downing of Brownville, has been named the First Honor Essayist. Downing has been accepted to UMaine in the Honors College majoring in business administration with a major in accounting and a minor in legal studies. While a student at Penquis Valley, Downing has been a four-year athlete in soccer, cheerleading and softball. She also has been a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and a member of the mentor program. Downing has held multiple officers positions in various civic organizations during her four years.


   Zachary Eells, son of Frankie Lynn Burton of Milo, has been named Second Honor Essayist. Eells will be attending UMaine, majoring in athletic training. Eells has participated four years in baseball, basketball and golf. He enjoys hunting and snowmobiling in his free time.
