GFWCMaine spring convention
SOUTH PORTLAND — GFWCMaine President Anne Cress presided over the spring convention held May 9-10 at the Best Western Merry Manor Inn. Five Miosac Club members from the area attended as well as two Cosmopolitan members.
President’s Project Chair Minnie McCormick reported on the progress of the year with over $3,000 in baby items being collected. Barb Austin, fundraising chair, presented her report as well. Vicki Moshella served on the Courtesy Committee. GFWC Miosac Club President Betsey Ryan accepted an award for the club and a check for $97.50 for directory ads. McCormick entered a photo in the Club Women’s Photo Contest. Moschella presented the very well done club scrapbook for the scrapbook contest.
Suzanne Raymond, president of GFWC/Cosmopolitan club, accepted several awards for her club as well as being convention chair. Barbette Schafer presented her report on the Jennie June Award and encouraged all members to apply for this honor.
Musicians Susan Ramsey and Ruth Fogg, presented entertainment for the evening with Bob Cress singing a couple of tunes with them. It was a wonderful entertainment for the evening. More business was conducted on Friday and convention was adjourned about three following presentation of prizes for raffles. The fall conference will be held at the Black Bear Inn in Orono Oct. 13-14.
