CITIZENS OF THE YEAR

The Valley Grange’s 2013 Community Citizen of Year Award honorees are The Piscataquis Observer and WABI TV, both of which have reached milestones of 175 and 60 years in operation respectively. The two were recognized during a May 17 ceremony at the Grange Hall in Guilford, and The Piscataquis Observer and WABI were also honored by the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society.

The newspaper was recognized for all its efforts and for the donation made in 1997 by parent company Northeast Publishing of the Observer Building which today houses the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society. Representing The Piscataquis Observer are, from left, Mark Putnam, Stuart Hedstrom, Jeannette Hughes, Linda Kain and Keri Foster.
