Big weekend of events on tap at the Center Theatre

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Pine Tree Hospice Variety Show will kick off at 7 p.m. this Friday night at the Center Theatre (doors open at 6 p.m.). The live show will feature a variety of dancing and musical acts as well as a Radio Show from The Slightly Off-Center Players. Admission to the show is by donation only, and all proceeds from the event will go toward Pine Tree Hospice’s ongoing efforts to provide support to community members in need.

READY TO ROCK — Jason Thompson performs on guitar and Isaac Whittemore plays the drums during an assembly at Foxcroft Academy on April 22. Three bands from the school’s Rock Band class will perform at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.

    Saturday night at the theatre, Foxcroft Academy will present three rock bands in concert at 7 pm. 6 Gun will perform first, Big Mouth will take to the stage second and The Antics (who won the right to headline the event at a Battle of the Bands held at FA’s assembly Monday morning) will close things out. Each band has been training under FA Music Director Josh Guthrie in several sections of a newly-created class called Rock Band, which Guthrie added to the music curriculum this semester.
    “These classes have been a lot of fun,” said Guthrie. “And they have provided day and boarding students with a great opportunity to collaborate on meaningful projects.”
