PVC basketball all-stars

    A number of basketball players from the region received postseason honors from the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC). Isaiah Bess and Trevor Lyford from Penquis Valley High School both were named to the PVC Boys First Team.

    ONE OF THE STATE’S BESS(T) — Penquis Valley High School junior Isaiah Bess was selected to the Bangor Daily News’ 58th annual All-Maine Schoolboy Basketball First Team, one of just five players from across the state to receive the accolade and Bess was one of two First Team selections to be from a non-Class A team. Penquis Valley junior Trevor Lyford received honorable mention recognition from the Bangor Daily News, as the two Patriots helped the team win the Class C state championship last month.

    Trevor Fogarty of Dexter Regional High School was named to the Boys Second Team, while Penquis’ Cody Herbest received Honorable Mention recognition. The Boys All-Defensive Team includes Nathan Burns of Piscataquis Community High School, Herbest and Casey Jordan of Dexter Regional High School.
    The PVC Girls First Team includes Lauren Crane of Dexter and Penquis’ Lexi Larson. The Second Team honorees include Jordyn Bell of Dexter while PCHS’ Jessie Bell was named to the Third Team.
    The Honorable Mention players include Alex Speed of PCHS and Michaela White of Dexter. The Girls All-Defensive team members from the region are Hannah Bess of Penquis, Speed and White.
