Marilyn J. (Foley) Farrar
DEXTER – Marilyn J. (Foley) Farrar, 80, died April 7, 2013, surrounded by family and friends and a wonderful hospital staff at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born on August 12, 1932, in Guilford, the daughter of Harry and Eleanor (Bell) Foley.
She attended Guilford schools and graduated from Guilford High School in 1950. She worked in the Hardwood Products office for several years, and after taking time off to raise her family, worked at Guilford of Maine’s Retail Store for twenty-five years where she met many wonderful people. She spoke fondly of the customers and always looked forward to their next visits. Her love of reading was instilled in others, and she was seldom seen without a book in hand. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed every moment spent with her family. She shopped year-round to make Christmas and birthdays “extra special”. Marilyn will be remembered by all who knew her as a caring person and spent her life making sure others’ needs were fulfilled.
She is survived by a son, Bryant Farrar and Cassady Regan of Dexter; a daughter, Gail Reid and Paul Whitney of Plymouth; two treasured granddaughters, Krysytna and Hannah Farrar, both of Dexter; two sisters-in-law, Ethlyn Langley of Presque Isle and Helen Edgerly of Dexter; a brother-in-law, Roger Farrar of Dexter; many special cousins, nieces and nephews; and caring friends and Dover Road neighbors. Judy and Larry Robichaud, her closest neighbors’ friendship meant a great deal to her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Galen H. Farrar, in November; and sisters, Rita Mastine and husband, John, Betty Skleros and husband, George, and Dorene Graf.
Family and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., with a celebration of her life at 3, Saturday, April 20, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., in Dexter. A committal with her husband, Galen, is planned for a later date. Donations in Marilyn’s honor will be accepted by the Ridgeview Community School Library, 175 Fern Rd., Suite 3, Dexter, ME 04930.
