    DOVER-FOXCROFT – Doris M. Engstrom, 85, wife of the late Earl L. Engstrom, died April 9, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born August 24, 1927, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Clyde and Clarice (Pratt) Judkins.
    In her early years, Doris had worked as a telephone operator. She traveled extensively with her husband while he served with the military, and often worked as a switchboard operator wherever he was stationed. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, earning the nickname, “Hot Rod Nana”. Doris attended the Dover-Foxcroft  Assembly of God Church and the Charleston Pentecostal Church.
    She leaves a large extended family and many friends, all of whom were touched by her in a memorable way.
    She is survived by a son, Gordon Engstrom and his partner, Ellen S. Thomas, of Bangor; twin daughters, Earlene Hartford and her husband, Robert, and Irene Chase, all of Dover-Foxcroft; nine grandchildren, Gordon Engstrom II, Brian Engstrom, Samara Engstrom and her husband, Christian, Brock Hartford and his wife, Amanda, Brooke Sands and her husband, Jason, Dean Fair and his partner, Shannon Gifford, Ty Fair and his wife, Janice, Billy Chase and his wife, Tammy, and Mike Chase and his wife, Julie; 12 great-grandchildren, Tenzin, Ronin, Chase, Payton, Easton, Mariah, Camryn, Kearstyn, Nicholas, Taylar, Katie, and Connor. She also leaves two sisters, Phyllis Doore of Sangerville, and Pat Sullivan of Dexter; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Earl; three brothers, Herbert, Dana and Raymond; two sisters, Evelyn Doore and Florence Knowlton; and a son-in-law, Larry Chase.
    Doris’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for the care and compassion provided for Doris, with special thanks to Jane Hibbard-Merrill and Wendy Pullen.
