MILO — On Monday, April 22 the Board of Directors for the Penquis Solid Waste Corporation (PSWC) will hold an informational public hearing at 6 p.m. at the Milo Town Hall to discuss a proposal to close the landfill and to let taxpayers know about the costs associated with running PSWC in the years to come.

The PSWC serves the towns of Milo, Brownville and Lake View Plantation and the townships of Ebeemee, T4 R9 and Williamsburg. The landfill is located on the Lake View Road in Milo, about 2.5 miles from the green bridge. Under the current system household garbage and recycling is collected via curbside pickup, where as other items are disposed of at the landfill with permits and/or after paying user fees during the regular hours of operation.
The April 22 hearing will include a presentation by CES Engineering, Inc. and then a discussion with the PSWC directors. The 10-member board includes representatives from member communities, the county and the contracted operator Moosehead Rubbish Collection.
