News from the Milo Free Public Library

MILO — First things first, our library was awarded a $300 grant on March 27 from the Samuel and Rose Rudman Trust. The funds will go toward the purchase of fiction and non-fiction children’s books for this year’s summer reading program. The theme is “Dig Into Reading.” We are very excited. Thank you so much Maine Community Foundation.

Besides April Fools Day, April is also National Poetry Month. One of our patrons is setting up the display on April 1. She will be showcasing U.S. Poets Laureate and Contemporary, Maine Poets Laureate as well as older and contemporary poets, children’s poets (Silverstein, Prelutsky and many others) and acquisitions of contemporary poetry. There will be free bookmarks for children who borrow a book of children’s poetry.  Come and check out our display.
Kathy had a great idea of putting the copyright dates on the book spines for authors that write series. Readers can find the first book in a series much more quickly. We are taking patron suggestions for any author that has several books and wish to read in copyright date order.
