Arline Mary Mischler King Dean

DEAN, Arline Mary Mischler King, 91, of Dover-Foxcroft, at California, March 22, 2013. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.


    Dover-Foxcroft – Arline Mary Mischler King Dean, 91, died unexpectedly Friday, March 22, 2013, while visiting her daughter in Vacaville, CA. She was born August 20, 1921, in East Braintree, MA, to Beatrice (Poulin) and Joseph Mischler.
    Arline was raised by her grandparents in Dexter, and graduated from N.H. Fay High School in 1939. In 1940, she married Philip King, who was later killed in World War II, and they had one daughter. She then married Ronald Dean in 1946 and had six more children.
    Arline had a wonderful attitude and was very active in the community, volunteering at Hibbard Nursing Home, Mayo Regional Hospital and at Togus. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Dexter. She loved playing in the community band and singing with several community groups. She especially enjoyed talking and making friends wherever she went, traveling, quilting, crocheting, knitting and feeding the birds. She retired from Hathaway Shirt Co. and continued to meet her Hathaway shirt co-workers once a month for lunch. She enjoyed eating breakfast at McDonalds with her friends. Arline loved the Red Hat Society and could be seen the first Monday of every month dressed in her Red Hat regalia, having breakfast at McDonalds.
    Arline is survived by her children, Bea (King) Sauvage and her husband, Jim of Buckeye, AZ, Barbie Dean of Vacaville, CA, Martha Andrews and her husband, Sam of Atkinson, Grace Langley and her husband, Rick of Squapan, Joe and his wife, Tami of Olney Bucks, England, and Cathy Buckley and her husband, Mike of Harmony. She leaves 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, many friends from California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, England, as well as many, many from Maine.
    She was predeceased by her parents; her infant brother; her first husband, Philip King; her second husband, Ronald; and a daughter, Mary Beth.
    Friends and family are invited to call from 12 noon until time of memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Fr. Kent Ouellette officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arline’s memory to the American Cancer Society, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
