MODERATOR’S OATH

Peter Neal is being sworn in by Town Clerk Michelle Nichols on Monday night for the third time as Guilford’s town meeting moderator. Residents observed a moment of silence to honor Linwood Flanders who died last month.

Flanders moderated Guilford’s annual town meeting for 51 years before handing Neal the gavel. Residents passed all 17 warrants in 58 minutes.  The voters approved the $1,408,783 municipal budget which is a 1.6 percent increase over this year’s. In the municipal elections, Kent Burdin and Rick Lander were re-elected to the board of selectmen, Nikki Fortier was elected to the SAD 4 board of directors and Brad Deane as a Guilford-Sangerville Sanitary District trustee.
