‘Think Spring CASH MOB’ supports an important cause

The hope of bright sunshine, longer days, blooming flowers and Easter egg hunts are the promises of spring just around the corner. The Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce wants you to think spring by being part of our “Think Spring CASH MOB” on March 14.

If you are new to cash mobs, the concept is simple: with at least $20 cash in hand, members of a community meet at a specific time and place to shop a locally-owned establishment as a way to support small business and stimulate the local economy. The Piscataquis Chamber is organizing cash mobs for member businesses all over Piscataquis County.
On March 14 a very special cash mob is taking place at a retail location that will be announced through our website and Facebook page later this week. Those who take part in this month’s cash mob are in for a treat. The owner of the business to be mobbed works hard to ensure a memorable and positive shopping experience for all customers. All cash mobbers will receive a complimentary gift with purchase at the event. Everyone will also be given a sealed Easter egg as they arrive, which should be brought to the register at checkout.
One lucky customer will open their egg at checkout to reveal a coupon for their entire order free (up to $50, must be 18 years old to participate). Most importantly, a portion of the proceeds from the “Think Spring CASH MOB” will be given to the Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation. This foundation’s purpose is to provide financial and emotional support for other families, like the Stutzman family, who have children that have been diagnosed with brain cancer. The official launch of the foundation will be on March 31 at the Harmony Community Coffee House. There will be more information about the launch available at the cash mob.
The Chamber is working hard to spread the word of our “Think Spring CASH MOB” through social media, flyers, and by word of mouth, in order to ensure a great turnout. You can help us create buzz around the event by liking our Cash Mob Facebook page and sharing it with your friends and family. The location of the mob will be announced in the Piscataquis Observer next Wednesday. To find out sooner, like our Facebook page which will announce the location this Friday.
