Ramona Harriet Coates

COATES, Ramona Harriet, 82, of Atkinson, at Dover-Foxcroft, February 9, 2013. A Spring burial service will be held at the town cemetery in Atkinson. Arrangements are in the care of Thompson Funeral Home, Corinth.

PO Ramona Harriet Coates    ATKINSON – Ramona Harriet Coates, 82, the wife of Harold Coates died Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Dover- Foxcroft Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 14, 1930, in Wakefield, Mass., the daughter of Jerome and Stella (Lewis) Zwicker.

    She had worked many years as a stitcher at Dexter shoe. Ramona loved to go to yard sales, crochet, go camping, hunting and fishing. She also loved flying and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. Most especially Ramona loved to spend time with her family and everyone knew that her house was always open to them. She would always work to fill whatever need someone had, especially a child’s. She and Harold managed to visit forty-nine states in their years together. Ramona’s faith in God remained strong throughout her life. She took the Coats for Kids program under her wing as a special labor of love.

    Surviving besides her husband of 62 years, are three children, Jeff Coates of Chubbuck, ID; Laurine Farrar and her husband Bobby of Plymouth, ME, Jonna Lee and her husband, Danny of Roanoke VA; three sisters, Teddy Schultz of New Jersey, Gloria Carle of Virginia and Corita Johnson of Florida; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by her brothers, Billy and Joe; and her sisters, Loretta and Lola.

    A Spring burial services will be held at a later date at the Town Cemetery in Atkinson with Rev. Dodi Sheffield, Pastor of the Dover-Foxcroft Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Please visit www.ThompsonFuneralHome.org
