2013 Schoodic Lake Fishing Derby results

    MILO — The 2013 results of the Schoodic Lake Ice Fishing Derby are as follows:

    The grand prize of a 2013 Polaris Sportsman 400 HO ATV was won by Deb Schmidt of Holden. First prize of a cabin for one week, given by Beech Ridge Camps, was won by Joe Pereira of Bucksport. Second prize of a Whale of a Weekend in Plymouth, Mass., donated by Captain John Whale Watching & Fishing Tours, was won by Clay Philbrook of Arundel. Third prize of a Husqvarna 445 chainsaw, donated by J.D. Brawn/Snow’s Saw Shop, was won by Caryn Cough of Old Town. Fourth prize of a cabin for two nights, donated by Cole’s Moosehorn Cabins, was won by Stacy Usher, Pittston. Fifth prize of a camp for one weekend, donated by Four Seasons Camp, was won by Sammy Pierce, Milo. Sixth prize of a 20-foot flagpole with flag, donated by World of Flags, USA, was won by Gary Cote of Milo. Seventh prize of a cord of cut, split and delivered wood within 20 miles, donated by Heath’s Firewood, was won by Mike Brissette of Vassalboro.

 

    The following gift certificates were awarded as donated shore prizes. Eighth prize of a $250 gift certificate, given by A. E. Robinson of Dover-Foxcroft, was won by William Willinski of Milo. Ninth prize of a $200 gift certificate, given by C & J Variety, was won by Lary Storer of Monson. Tenth prize of a $200 gift certificate, donated by Tradewinds Market of Milo, was won by Nicholas Worster of Cambridge. Eleventh prize of a $150 gift certificate from Graves Service Station was won by Larry Laney of Sebec.

    Four winners received $100 gift certificates donated by the following businesses: Dale DeWitt of Medford, from Joe’s Repair Shop; D. Schmidt of Holden, from DeWitt-Jones Realty (a service station card); Isaac Sinclair of Saco from Hobnobbers Pub; and C. Wiles of Garland, from Lakeview Realty, Inc. & Schoodic Ent. (sporting goods card).

    The winner of $418 in the Milo Firefighters Auxiliary 50/50 raffle was Mike Harris.

    Registered fish drawing winners were as follows. Adam Stetson of Brownville, ice fishing supplies sponsored by Bailey Lumber; Curtis Hartmann of Ebeemee, ice fishing equipment sponsored by James W. Wadman, CPA; Keith Thompson of Garland, a weekend cabin rental sponsored by C. C. Polaris & Country Cabins; Rachel McMannus of Milo, a PAC Shack ice fishing blind sponsored by Old Town Trading Post; Chris Hersom of Sanford, one night’s lodging and dinner sponsored by Wildwood Trailside Cabins; Keith Lovejoy of Brownville, a $100 gift certificate sponsored by Three Rivers Hardware; and Lance Gray of Milo won a jet sled with hitch and cover.

    The following gift certificates were awarded in the registered fish drawing: from Coburn Family Restaurant to Mike Rolfe of South Paris; Allie Oops Sports Bar & Gossamer Press to Brian Vargas of Corinth; Pat’s Pizza, Milo & Three Rivers Feed to Brookes Carey of Portland; Wendy’s Tanning Salon, Flowers by Dee to Amanda White, Orneville; Russell’s Live Bait & Simple Sacks to Garvin Graves of Brownville; and Home Town Video to Owen Smith of Milo.

    All registered fish drawing prizes included a gun cleaning kit from Eastern Maine Shooting Supplies and a case of Pepsi.

    Cash prizes of $200 first, $100 second and $50 third for largest fish caught are as follows. For Togue: Bryan Cochran of Corinna, 11.49 lbs. 31 in.; Jeff Seney of Brewer, 5.47 lbs. 27.75 in.; and Guy Heal of Milo, 4.74 lbs, 23.25 in. For Salmon: Susan Shorette of Brownville, 4.93 lbs. 26.25 in.; Stan Robinson of Bangor, 4.49 lbs. 23.50 in.; and Pedro Cesar of Brewer, 4.06 lbs. 21.00 in. For Trout: Alisha Arsenault, Long A. Twp., 1.92 lbs. 17.50 in.; Terry Mayo of Milo, 1.85 lbs. 17.25 in.; and Pat Larrabee of Milo, 1.78 lbs. 18.50 in. For Pickerel: Norm Gove of W. Gardner, 2.91 lbs. 23.25 in.: and Alex Zelkan of Milo, 2.88 lbs 23.25 in. For Cusk: Leah German of Benton, 4.84 lbs. 25.00 in.; and David Worcester of Scarborough, 4.01 lbs. 23.00 in. For Bass: Steve Jay of Milo, 4.52 lbs. 19.50 in.; and Jake Turner, 4.08 lbs. 19.00 in. For White Perch: Curtis Hartmann of Ebeemee, 1.58 lbs. 14 in.; and David Bragdon of Millinocket, 1.49 lbs. 13.50 in. The bonus prize of $100 for largest Togue or Salmon went to Brian Cochrane of Corinna.

    For a boy or girl under age 16, first prize of a $50 gift certificate from Camden National Bank went to Colton Dow of Dover-Foxcroft, second prize of $25 in gold coins from MaineSavings FCU went to Rachel McMannus of Milo and third prize of a $25 savings account from Maine Highlands FCU went to Henry Patten of Levant.
