Mary Jane Fairbrother

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Mary Jane Fairbrother, 70, passed away February 9, 2013, at Mayo Regional Hospital, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Ernest and Arlene (Dority) Fairbrother.

Mary graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1960. She worked hard all of her life, in area mills and at Hathaway Shirt Company. She was an NRA instructor, Cub Scout leader, and a “Mom” Demolay. She went through the chairs in Grange and was a Past Worthy Matron in O.E.S. Mary loved to hunt and fish and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. She taught Sunday school, worked as a seamstress and sold Avon for many years. She continued to write poetry up until the end of her life, many times about her beloved pets. Her sense of humor, willingness to help a friend, and larger-than-life personality will be missed.

Mary is survived by a son, James, his wife, Melissa and granddaughter, Hannah; three sisters, Ethel Cole, Ann Sawyer, and Deborah Taggette and her husband, Bert; a brother, Ernest “Bub” Fairbrother and his wife, Suzanne; 12 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
