Louise C. Ernest

ERNEST, Louise C., 96, of Garland & Dover-Foxcroft, at Dover-Foxcroft, February 7, 2013. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Garland Community Baptist Church. Arrangements are in the care of The Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

PO Louise Ernest OB    GARLAND and DOVER-FOXCROFT – Louise C. Ernest, 96, wife of the late Earle “Pete” W. Ernest, died February 7, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 4, 1916, the daughter of Roy C. and Ada Alteen (Hatch) Foss.

    Louise helped raise her four sisters after her mother’s death. A very giving and kind woman, her kitchen was an unofficial town café, where she enjoyed cooking for friends and neighbors. She and her husband owned and operated the general store in Garland for 22 years. At the time of her death, she held the Boston Cane for the Town of Garland. She was a fifty-year member of the Rebekahs, a fifty-year member of the Grange, and a member of the Garland Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She attended the Garland Community Baptist Church. She was involved with starting a local Boy Scout Troop, and enjoyed bowling, card games, including cribbage, and time spent at the Kingsbury Pond camp.

    Louise is survived by two sisters, Norma E. Littlefield and her husband, Blaine of Burnham, and Ada Alteen Cobb of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother-in-law, Paul Herrick of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces and nephews.

    She was predeceased by a son, Earle Roy Ernest; two sisters, Myrtie Farrin and her husband, Lyman, and Barbara Herrick; and a brother-in-law, Glenwood Cobb.

    A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Garland Community Baptist Church, with Pastor Bob Young and Pastor Barry Buzzell officiating. Spring burial will be in the family lot in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
