Brown golfs for UNE

    BIDDEFORD — This past fall season Charleston resident and Foxcroft Academy graduate Mat Brown, a junior at the University of New England, served as a captain for the Nor’easter golf team.

    Brown helped UNE finish second out of 10 teams at the Maine Intercollegiate Championship in Cumberland. He placed 23rd with a score of 162 over the two days as UNE’s 616 combined score trailed only the 595 accumulated by the University of Southern Maine.

    At the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship in Brewster, Mass., UNE placed 22nd out of 35 teams with a total score of 337 and was 11th among the 21 Div. III schools taking part. Brown’s score of 87 was good for third among the five Nor’easter golfers at the match.

    Brown is the son of Teri and Philip Brown. He is a nursing major.
