College workshops scheduled for pair of dates in February

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will be hosting free workshops, called the “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over on Monday, Feb. 4 and Feb. 25  at the Piscataquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative, which is located at 48 Morton Avenue, at 9 a.m. and at the Penquis Higher Education Center, which is located at 50 Mayo Street, at 1 p.m.

To register for either of the two  Feb. 4 or Feb. 25 sessions in Dover-Foxcroft, or for more information on the program, please call 1-800-281-3703 or go online to the website at http://meoc.maine.edu.

MEOC is funded entirely by the U.S. Department of Education. The program helps qualified adults make the transition toward their college education. MEOC provides assistance to adults living in Maine and helps them go to whichever college or university they so choose. MEOC successfully placed a total of 1,073 Maine adults in different college and university programs last year.

The starting point for all MEOC participants is the Essentials of College Planning, an interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: which are admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.

All of the various workshops will last for approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration for any of the four sessions is required.
